New hepster cooperation: new add-on insurance for NBB

Rostock, 02 August 2023. InsurTech hepster - specialised in embedded insurance - can welcome a new partner: the electronics platform notebooksbilliger.de (NBB) is expanding its service and now offers its customers matching insurance for selected products. The cooperation with hepster and the distribution of the services started on 01 August 2023. 

hepster is expanding NBB's existing insurance offering with a product developed exclusively for NBB, "NBB Care Plus". The insurance cover is available for notebooks, tablets and wearables, such as smartwatches and sports watches. The advantage: With the new additional service, customers not only receive more flexibility and security, but also a significantly enhanced customer experience - the insurance policies can be booked in a monthly subscription, with favourable rates, no deductible or waiting period. Comprehensive worldwide protection applies for damage caused by falls, breakage, battery damage, damage due to weather conditions, theft and robbery. 

Buying the insurance is very easy - it is added to the respective NBB product (laptop, tablet, smartwatch/sports watch) with just one click and thus becomes part of the shopping basket. The monthly insurance rate depends on the respective price of the device. Payment of the first insurance instalment is made via NBB, after which the insurance is activated at hepster and also processed there. Claims are also settled directly via hepster.

Integrated insurance - a booming market

A recent survey commissioned by hepster, in which 1,792 people took part, revealed how high the demand for insurance is among end customers in the electronics industry and how strongly the market has developed:  

  • 53 percent of the participants have already taken out supplementary insurance. Smartphones/cell phones are the front runners: One in five had purchased insurance for these directly at the time of purchase. Laptops/notebooks follow in second place, with 15 per cent having taken out insurance. 
  • From a purchase price of 500 euros, insurance is important to more than half of the participants, namely almost 55 percent. Another 41 per cent consider it from 1,000 euros.
