Digital insurer hepster plans new insurance products for bike leasing in Austria
Rostock, 06.05.2021 - Company bike leasing has become more attractive for companies since January 2021 thanks to new tax reforms in Austria. InsurTech hepster has already successfully gained a foothold in Austria with several cooperation partners and is now planning its own insurance package for Austrian leasing providers.
Tax reform makes it possible: company bike leasing finally attractive
A new tax reform came into force in Austria on 1 January 2021, finally making the popular bike leasing model more attractive for companies. Employers can now deduct input tax on company bikes and employees also benefit from clear advantages: Unlike in Germany, the company bike and private use no longer have to be taxed as a non-cash benefit.
The desired bike is often financed through a salary conversion, so that the monthly leasing instalment is deducted from the employee's gross salary. There is also an insurance premium, which varies depending on the leasing provider and the scope of services. A leasing contract between the employer as the lessee and the employee as the user regulates the details.
New insurance for Austria: hepster plans its own bike leasing package
The Rostock-based InsurTech hepster is currently planning its own insurance products for leasing providers in Austria. "Our expertise in bike leasing and our technological infrastructure enable us to rethink our products and develop them precisely to meet the needs of Austrian leasing providers and their customers," says Alexander Hornung, product specialist and co-founder of hepster.
The basis of the new leasing package is a high-performance fully comprehensive insurance policy that covers bicycles and e-bikes against theft, damage and destruction for the entire leasing period. Thanks to its modular structure, the (e-)bike fully comprehensive cover can be supplemented with a special bicycle protection certificate and leasing instalment protection and can be easily integrated into the processes of leasing providers using digital interfaces. The new leasing package is specifically tailored to the needs of Austrian lessors and lessees so that everyone involved benefits from an optimal insurance experience at all times.
